Dear {insert Title and name},
I am writing to express my concern about the growing number of wind projects near me.
As seen in Nantucket with the Vinyard Wind project over the past few weeks, these industrial electricity-generating facilities and their failures represent an unacceptable threat to the environment and, consequently, to our local economy.
In Nantucket, the disintegration of a single turbine blade has led to tens of thousands of pounds of fiberglass, foam, industrial adhesive, and other contaminants in the water and washing up on local beaches, which have had to be closed.Ocean Wind One and Two in New Jersey have been canceled thanks to local opposition to the projects.
There was a turbine fire in Rexville, New York, in 2023. According to multiple sources, several family members have been exposed to airborne fiberglass. Livestock and croplands are affected. Up to six property owners may have been affected.
We cannot wait for a similar catastrophe in the Towns of Stark, Warren, and Columbia, or in Herkimer and Otsego Counties in general. As our elected official, we ask that you raise your voice in opposition to these projects that have a significant impact to our cultural, environmental, historical and religious communities.
Signed {Your name}
