An announcement was made at the last Stark town board meeting that there will be a joint meeting of the five-member town board and the three people who currently represent Planning Board THIS MONDAY, August 26th to discuss future action regarding revisions to the Stark zoning code and/or Comprehensive Plan on commercial wind and solar projects pursuant to the moratorium that was enacted months ago. The joint meeting will start at 7pm at the regular courthouse building in Starkville.
The Planning Board is required to have five to seven members according to the town’s own rules. However, it has been operating with only three members for a very long time. This is despite the fact that applications have been submitted by town residents to fill vacancies.
We are now halfway through the nine-month moratorium period without any action occurring. Moreover, the public has consistently requested on numerous occasions that a citizen advisory board be created. Yet, so far the town board has taken no action to either establish a Citizen Advisory Board or to legitimize its Planning Board with the required number of members.
We urge folks to attend the meeting on Monday and make their voices heard.
